Index of DLF Derived Variables prior to 2008/2009

INTRODUCTION

This page describes the variables required to replicate the DLF SLN calculation on data collected prior to the introduction of Demand led Funding.
These variables are not available in the Learner information Suite (LIS) or Standard files but are used in, for example the Summary Statement of Activity (SSOA).

INDEX OF DLF DERIVED VARIABLES

Derived Variable Label	Definition
ACT_MONTHS_IN_YEAR	The actual number of months spent in learning on the aim in the current year
EXP_MONTHS	The expected number of months to be spent in learning on the aim in the current year.
IN_YEAR_COURSE_ PROP	Proportion of the total days on the learning aim that are within the current academic year
A_TODATE_QUALIFYING_SLN_PERIOD	Learning aim counts as a start under demand led funding
AIM_GLH	Guided Learning Hours for the Aim to be used in the SLN calculation
AIM_IN_YEAR_GLH	The Guided Learning Hours used to calculate the SLN for the aim that occur in the current Year
AIM_INYEAR_ GLH_EMP_RESP	The GLH for the aim to be used in the SLN calculation for Employer Responsive provision
A_DEMAND_LED_CAT	Defines whether a learner is funded under the Learner Responsive or Employer Responsive Model
L_ALLYEARS_GLH, L_INYEAR_GLH, L_INYEAR_GLH_EMP_RES	Aggregates Guided Learning Hours to Learner level to derive Total GLH, and Employer Responsive total GLH
AIM_FUND	Defines a funded learning aim under the Demand Led Funding Method
L_AIM_FUND	Defines a funded learner under the Demand Led Funding Method
AIM_SLN	The Standard Learner Number for the aim for Learner responsive provision
EMP_RESP_SLN	EMP_RESP_SLN The Standard Learner Number for the aim for Employer responsive provision
A_Full_Level_2	Defines the Learning Aim Full Level 2
A_Full_Level_3	Defines the Learning Aim Full Level 2
IL_Flag	A flag to indicate whether a Learner has been 'in learning' for a particular academic year

Leitch_Lit_L1_ACH	The Leitch Literacy Level 1 has been achieved by the Learner

Leitch_Num_EL_ACH	The Leitch Numeracy Entry Level 3 has been achieved by the Learner
A_IY_SLN_PAYMENT	Does the Aim generate SLN or receive an In Year Payment, up to the current period
P_IY_SLN_PAYMENT	Does the Programme generate SLN or receive an In Year Payment, up to the current period
L_IY_SLN_PAYMENT	Does the Learner generate SLN or receive an In Year Payment, up to the current period
A_PRIOR_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Aim generated SLN or received a Payment in Previous Years
P_PRIOR_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Programme generated SLN or received a Payment Prior to this Year
L_PRIOR_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Learner generated SLN or received a Payment Prior to this Year
A_TO_DATE_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Aim generated SLN or received a Payment in Previous Years or In this Year
P_TO_DATE_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Programme generated SLN or received a Payment in Previous Years or In this Year
L_TO_DATE_SLN_PAYMENT	Has the Learner generated SLN or received a Payment in Previous Years or In this Year
A_FULLY_FUNDED	Is the aim fully funded
A_TOTAL_SLN_Y2D	The amount of SLN the aims has generated this year (up to the current period)
