UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN) Definition

DEFINITION

1. The UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN) is an identification number assigned to providers who register with the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP).

DESCRIPTION

2. The UKRLP was launched in 2005, and in 2006, the UKPRN was linked to the Unique Provider Identification Number (UPIN) assigned by the Provider Information Management System (PIMS).

3. Eventually, the UKPRN will replace the UPIN as the single provider identifier across the system.
