DEFINITION

1. The information authority (IA) is an independent body established to set and regulate data and collection standards for all organisations involved in further education and training.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

2. The IA works with the Data Service, who collect, handle and disseminate information across further education and training.

3. The establishment of the IA is part of an ongoing transformation that will be fully implemented by 2011.
