Statistical First Release Definition

DEFINITION

1. A Statistical First Release (SFR) is a specific type of report and analysis, giving information on volume and success for post 16 education.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

2. The SFR is produced in accordance with the 'Framework for National Statistics' and complies with the principles laid out in the National Statistics Code of Practice.

3. The statistics are a combination of learner number and learning aim outcomes. They represent the headline reporting of provision delivered by the LSC.

4. There are three SFRs published each year:

  • Early: In-year information on learner numbers, derived from the ILR return relating to the number of learners enrolled on the 1st November on a given year.
  • Full Year: Full year information on learner numbers, derived from the ILR return relating to the number of learners enrolled at any time during the year.
  • Full Year Plus: Information on success, retention and achievement outcomes derived from the ILR return on 31st December. For Learner Responsive (LR) this relates to the previous academic year. For Employer Responsive (ER), it relates to the most recently available data.
