Freeze Calendar Definition

DEFINITION

1. The Freeze Calendar provides a pictorial view of the Data and MI Service's working schedule.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

2. The primary function of the Freeze Calendar is to indicate when a particular freeze (a snapshot of a database) is scheduled to start, and when that particular freeze plus all associated work linked to it should be completed by.

3. The calendar also indicates when the outcome of a freeze should be made available to the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).

4. Within the Calendar a 'triggers' column provides the necessary information for the team to commence other events including:

  • accepting data from external bodies
  • output of communication statements
  • generation of data

5. Key inputs are as follows:

  • previous year freeze schedule
  • Bank Holiday dates
  • LSC closure dates
  • ILR Appendix A (collection timetable)
  • collection closure dates

6. Key outputs are as follows:

  • draft freeze dates
  • document for LSC review
  • freeze calendar (full version)
  • freeze calendar (extract)
  • walkthrough / presentation
