WBL Success Rates Live UPIN Files

1 These files are a list of all providers that have returned data for the year in question.

Purpose

2 During the creation of the master file, the values are matched back into the data and allow analysis to exclude providers from years when they returned no data in the ILR.

4 One live UPIN file is generated for each year from 2001/02 to 2005/06. It is simply a list of all providers that had cases in that year’s standard files.

5 In cases where the UPIN has changed between the year in question and 2005/06, the UPIN will be changed to its most recent value.

6 The definitions below show the fields that occur in these files. Fields that are from the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) are defined in the ILR Specification. The hyperlink will take you to the ILR page where you can view the specification for the relevant teaching year.

Table 1 Fields in the Live UPIN File

Field name	Description
L01	Provider number, updated to its 2005/06 value if that value has changed in between years.
livel01_(year)	Flag to indicate whether that UPIN was live in the year in question. For example, in 2004/05 this field would be called livel01_0405
