DEFINITION

1. University for Industry is a government funded organisation, which owns the learndirect brand - providing learndirect courses as well as learndirect advice and UK Online centres.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

2. UfI aims to help those without literacy and numeracy skills and those without GCSE level grades A-C, to progress and achieve with essential skills for work. This is achieved by delivery through innovative use of new technologies.

3. The organisation works in partnership with the LSC, providing learning and receiving funding in return.

4. From 2010/11 data about ufi provision will no longer be returned in a separate return. From 2010/11 data about ufi provision will be returned as part of LR data returns. If like-for-like analysis is required, the ufi provision can be discounted by excluding UPIN 112390 (in field L01, Provider Number).
