DEFINITION

1. Skills for Jobs is the LSC's umbrella term for a range of activities that clearly link skills and employment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

2. It includes a range of services funded under particular contracts, for example:

• Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (also Skills Coaching)
• Approximately one third of Adult apprenticeship budget

3. In completing the Summary Statement of Activities, Skills for Jobs is defined by that discrete provision which is funded from within NLDC and European Social Fund (ESF) (from 2008-2010 Skills for Jobs forms part of ESF funded activity).

4. Tailored programmes of support will be offered to prepare disadvantaged customers for employment, including:

• Information
• Advice and guidance
• Sector employment toolkit activity
• Pre-employment training (as part of Local Employment Partnerships)
• Ongoing help to find and sustain employment.
