The Data Service is committed to delivering and demonstrating excellence in the collection, transformation and dissemination of high quality learner and funding data.


Data Quality Governance 


FE sector data quality is monitored by the Data Quality Board, comprising of representatives from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, the Department of Education, the Skills Funding Agency, the Education Funding Agency (EFA), Ofsted, the Data Service, the Learning Records Service, and the information authority. The Board reports to the FE Data Management Group (Department of Business, Innovation and Skills).

The Board's Terms of Reference includes setting the data quality strategy and policy for the Individualised Learner Record (ILR), the Schools Standard Files dataset and the FE in HE dataset.

The Board receives reports on sector achievement and progress against information authority data quality standards, and is responsible for reviewing progress against the FE sector data quality plan set out out by the information authority.
