Learning Aim Database
The Learning Aim Database (LAD) contains information about all recognised learning aims offered by providers who return ILR data to the Data Service. It includes learning aim information required to complete ILR data returns, as well as funding and statistical data.
There are options to search the current database or download the database (current and archived versions, in various formats). The online LAD and the latest download represent the most current data.
The LAD holds data for three teaching years. These are currently 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11.
The information in the LAD is updated monthly. Aims are added/amended based on details received from a variety of sources, including DfE, BIS, Ofqual, awarding bodies and providers. In the first two weeks of the month, data updates are published in spreadsheets on the 'LAD data amendments' page of the website. The LAD is then populated with that information, which goes live in the last week of the month.
You could consider subscribing to the Data Service Web Alert service - selecting updates about the 'News and Updates'- to receive email updates about LAD data amendments,
Alternatively you can access the ‘Software updates’ section within the News and Update section of the Data Service Website .
Changes between versions
Occasional new releases of the LAD include changes to the functionality or underlying data structure. These are documented on the 'LAD changes between versions' page of the website.
