Software

Several software packages are made freely available to providers to assist with the data collection process, responsibility for managing several of these packages nows lies with the Data Service.

Staying up to date -
You could consider subscribing to the Data Service Web Alert service - selecting  'News and Updates'- to receive email updates about Software amendments.

Alternatively you can access the ‘Software updates’ section within the News and Update section of the Data Service Website.

Provider Software - Data Service

• Learning Aim Database (LAD)/Learning Aim Reference Application (LARA)- An online application that contains information about all recognised learning aims. It has search and download facilities. A download of the LAD/LARA is required for use with the LIS.
• Learner Information Suite (LIS) - Software used by providers to validate ILR data, and produce reports, before transmitting it via the provider extranet.
• Online Data Collections - The On-line Data Collections system that is used for transmitting data to the Data Service.

Provider Software - Originally hosted on the LSC website

• Disadvantaged learner uplift - Postcode File and Ward File
• DSAT - The Data Self-assessment Toolkit (DSAT) analyses data for both FE and WBL using data exported from the Learner Information Suite (LIS).
