Services

The ILR data collection portal will close at 6pm on the specified close dates, as published by the information authority in Appendix A of the ILR Specification, which can be found at: http://www.theia.org.uk/downloads/ilrdocuments/ilrdetail2009_10.htm.

The Data Service and the information authority strongly recommend that all Providers submit their ILR returns well in advance and no later than 6pm on the close date, to enable these to be processed in time. Please be aware that no further returns will be accepted from Providers after this close date.

The Data Service will deliver a central catalogue of core services to the sector through operational level agreements with the information authority. We will also provide a self-financing ad hoc service outside of the central catalogue. These services will be delivered within an agreed governance framework.

The Data Service will be responsible for the central collection and storage of sector and sector-related data, providing a 'single version of the truth'.

We will undertake transformations based on published algorithms and disseminations based upon agreed data sets and publication schedules agreed sector-wide by the information authority.

We will also deliver customer support through account management, education and training and managed support desk provision.

Service Catalogues

The catalogue of services that will be offered by the new organisation during 2008/09 will differ little from those provided by its successor, the LSC, as it seeks to maintain business continuity during its formative months.

Core services that will be offered to the sector through the data collections website will include the collection of:

  • Learning Aims Database (LAD)
  • Provider Information Management System (PIMS)
  • Learner Information Suite (LIS)

The service will also be responsible for the dissemination of:

  • Individualised Learner Record extracts
  • Statistical First Release files
  • Sector benchmark reports
  • FE success rate data
  • PIMS extracts

Discussions will begin shortly with stakeholder organisations to help determine how the service catalogue will be extended for 2009/10..
